The Twin Cities Series is a collaborative set of novellas written by a number of different authors including Drew Avera, J.B. Cameron, Kedrick Rue, and Theresa Snyder.

The people of Minnesota believe the twin cities to be Minneapolis and St. Paul, but what they don't realize is the name actually refers to a parallel dimension known as The Realms, where creatures of myth roam freely.

Humans stand only a dimensional barrier away from the most terrifying and horrible monsters imaginable, but there are a select few who answer the cries for help, who guard the world of mankind and keep it safe from harm.

The Realms can be a place of great danger, as well as great beauty, where love and loss can be sudden and significant, but make no mistake...in this world, humanity is just another word for powerless.

Interview with Drew Avera, Author and Creator of The Twin Cities Series!

A few months ago author Drew Avera sent an e-mail out to a handful of authors of various genres. His goal? To create a brand new fantasy world, one ripe with monsters and creatures of nightmare and mythology. His idea was a spark that ignited the flame of the Twin Cities Series universe. Today, there are four books available for purchase, with more coming soon.

Today we sit down with the creator of The Twin Cities Series, Drew Avera.

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Drew Avera (pronounced Avery) and I was born and raised in Mississippi. I joined the navy at seventeen and now live in Virginia with my wife and kids.

What kind of books to you typically write?

Dystopian thrillers and science fiction.

What is your book in the series called? (Include description)

Mr. Grimm - Alexander Grimm has been sentenced to a life of servitude. His services are rendered to a man who calls himself The Raven, who is more than a man. He is a vampire. Grimm has done The Raven's bidding for twenty years with the life of his daughter, Angelica, hanging in the balance. Someone in The Raven's Court has approached the man known in The Realms as "Mr. Grimm" with a choice: Continue killing for fear of losing his daughter, or give his life to ensure that The Raven can never hold her life in his hands again. Which will he choose?

The Raven - The current events of this story take place twenty years before the events of Mr. Grimm, but this book was written as a sequel. Either reading order is acceptable, though.

The Raven is the ruler of The Realms. He is a vampire who thinks himself to be like God. His history is scarred by pain and misery and it has a harsh effect on his mind. Read this story in order to better understand where his madness truly lies.

How did you get involved in the series?

My initial idea was to do something simple involving a few other authors. That blew up and turned into a very vast world with four other awesome authors who helped shape the series. I asked a few authors if they would like to get involved and they said yes. Their contributions have turned my small idea into something a lot more fun and interesting than I could have done on my own.

If you visited The Realms, what would you hope to see or not see?

I would hope to see some really cool landscape; I would not want to see anyone working for The Raven. I’ve got a bit of meat on my bones and I’m pretty sure vampires like prey they don’t have to chase down too hard…

What's next for you, either inside The Realms or outside of it?

I just released a dystopian thriller called 2103, and that is going to be a series. I also have a third book in The Realms which is in work.

Interview of J.B. Cameron, Author of an Upcoming Twin Cities Series Novella!

The Twin Cities Series currently has four novellas available for purchase! Mr. Grimm, The Raven, Shifting in The Realms, all show a different side to The Realms and the creatures that inhabit it, but two more authors will soon publish their stories. Today we interview J.B. Cameron, author of the upcoming Magpie & Jynx!

What is your name and where are you from?

J.B. Cameron. I currently live in Fredericton, the capital city of New Brunswick, Canada.

What kind of books to you typically write?

My primary writing revolves around urban fantasy, typically with a more supernatural angle, but I also dabble in horror and science fiction.

What is your book in the series called? (Include description)

Magpie & Jynx is an urban fantasy action/adventure story that primarily takes place within the borders of The Realms.

Maggie Bartlett is a half-human, half-shifter whose master over her ability to transform into only one creature, a crow, allows her to selectively alter her human form. She can enhance her vision, produce a rook's talons from her fingertips, and other things. Jynx is the beautiful siren who can dominate the will of mortal men with the power of her voice. Together, they help protect the weak from the many threats existing within The Realms.

Their current adventure pits them against the deadly forces of a human/fae trafficking ring, run by the Japanese Yakuza. When Jynx is rendered powerless and captured by the slavers, it's up to Magpie to track her down, but placing her faith in the enigmatic Marlon The Magician, a figure she knows better than to trust, could result in murder for this crow.

How did you get involved in the series?

Drew invited me on shortly before the release of the first round of books. The premise got into my head and by the next day, I found myself dropping my other writing projects in my excitement to get the characters of Magpie and Jynx on the page.

If you visited The Realms, what would you hope to see or not see?

I'd hope not to see the inside of some monster's stomach, though that would likely be a strong possibility!

I think it would be amazing to see a city like the one that greets you as soon as you enter the portals. The combination of modern skyscrapers with gothic overtones, neon signs, cobblestone roads, and lamp light would really be something to behold. It sounds both stark and beautiful at the same time.

What's next for you, either inside The Realms or outside of it?

I still have the first draft of book 3 of my paranormal detective comedy/thriller series, Reading The Dead - The Sarah Milton Chronicles, to finish. I reached the climax of the story recently, and I'd hate to break momentum.

At some point, I'll be returning to The Realms with another story. I have an idea in my mind about a psychological thriller, featuring a vampire who finds himself investigating a series of unexplained deaths in the seedier parts of the city. It'll be a little different from the vampire tales told thus far, in that my protagonist, after losing the love of his undead life, is heavily addicted to the blood of certain types of fae, causing him to hallucinate and lose touch with reality at times. It should be quite gritty and raw.

Join The Twin Cities Series Discussion on Goodreads!

You step through a shimmering portal into a realm unlike any that you can possibly imagine. The sight that greets you on the other side is a dark, unfamiliar city, with towering skyscrapers reaching towards a moonlit sky.

There are no people walking the cobblestone streets. Your first instinct is to turn back, to flee to the familiar safety of your home on the other side of the portal, yet a growing fascination with this strange, eerie world holds you in place.

There is magic here, and wonders beyond imagining. You can almost feel it stirring in the crisp air.

"Is this your first time here?" a voice asks behind you.

You jump, and quickly turn to face a gaunt figure standing behind you. You could swear that you hadn't heard him approach. He smiles, revealing a set of gleaming, white fangs. The sight is unsettling, yet you sense no threat from the man.

"Where am I?" you ask.

"Welcome to The Realms, traveler. It's not the safest of places for your kind, but if you keep your wits about you, you should be all right. Mostly."

Your eyes return to the amazing sight of towers lit by neon and thousands of flickering lamp lights. It's so unlike anything you've ever seen before! You know you shouldn't, but can't help yourself. You venture a step further into this strange, perilous, wonderful world, feeling an odd familiarity pulling you deeper.

"Tell me, traveler," the gatekeeper urges behind you. "Who are you, and what brings you to this place? I only ask, because if you take another step, this may be the last time we meet..."

Interview of Theresa Snyder, Author of a Twin Cities Series Novella!

The Twin Cities Series is charging full steam ahead! Four books from three authors have already been released and given great reviews! Tonight we take a closer look at one of the authors, Theresa Snyder, of Shifting in The Realms!

What is your name and where are you from?

Theresa Snyder. I was born in California, currently living in Oregon, but I've lived in every state this side of the Mississippi.

What kind of books do you typically write?

I am a multi-genre writer. I have a series of science fiction books, a series of fantasy, a memoir and a paranormal.

What is your book in the series called? (Include description)

Shifting in The Realms

Cody is a shape shift with some monumental problems that all started when he died. He’s escaped to The Realms from the midlands between Heaven and Hell only to find his best friend is potential food for the resident vampires, his girlfriend only loves him in his wolf form and her mother…well that’s a whole other story.

It isn’t easy being Cody, but like a good wolf he’ll do what he can to protect his pack even if it kills him. Wait…he’s already dead.

How did you get involved in the series?

Drew Avera, our Gene Roddenberry of The Realms, asked me to join the group to put my spin on the setting in the Twin Cities Series.

If you visited The Realms, what would you hope to see or not see?

I would like to meet Remy, one of our gatekeepers to The Realms. He seems like an okay sort of guy. I also wouldn’t mind visiting with Simone’s mom and hearing her back story.

What's next for you, either inside The Realms or outside of it?

In The Realms, there will be another story involving Cody and his friends in the very near future. That back story I was talking about in the question before this one is begging to be told.

I also have the next volume of The Farloft Chronicles, my fantasy series, almost ready for the editing, beta reading and posting.
